Leslie Dienes’s research interests focus on the U.S.S.R. and East Europe, particularly Hungary. He has contributed articles on industrial location problems, energy policy issues and regional development to geographical and interdisciplinary (Slavic and energy) journals in both the United States and abroad and is the author of Locational Factors and Developments in the Soviet Chemical Industry, Department of Geography, Research Series (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 1969). He has traveled and done research in East Europe and the U.S.S.R. during 1970–71 and 1974.
