Carolyn Shaw Bell holds the Katharine Coman Chair of Economics at Wellesley College. Her research in the field of income, consumption and marketing resulted in Consumer Choice in the American Economy (New York: Random House, 1969). She is also the author of The Economics of the Ghetto (New York: Pegasus, Bobbs Merri, 1971), has written articles for scholarly and popular journals, and has provided economic commentary on television.
