Edward Whiting Fox, in addition to his duties at Cornell, has spent two years at Princeton’s Institute for Advanced Studies and two years in France. Prior to that, he was an instructor at Harvard University and in 1945–1946 served as an analyst at the State Department. He is the author of the Oxford Atlas of European History (New York: Oxford University Press, 1957), Development of Western Civilization (Ithaca: Cornell University Press, 1950) and History in Geographic Perspective: The Other France (New York: Norton, 1971), which is about to appear in French as L’Autre France (Flammarion). Mr. Fox studied the 1965 French elections and has returned to France to study the 1973 elections.
