Dennis J. Duncanson, OBE, is Reader in Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Kent. After government service in Malaya and Hong Kong, he spent five years with the British Advisory (Thompson) Mission to Vietnam. He is the author of Government and Revolution in Vietnam (Oxford: Oxford University Press, 1968).
