Norman A. Graebner holds the Edward A. Stettinius Professorship of Modem American History and is a member of the University of Virginia’s Center for Advanced Study. He has taught at Iowa State University, Stanford University and the University of Illinois. His most recent book is Manifest Destiny (Indianapolis: Bobbs Merrill, 1968).
