Richard Butwell has lived in Burma and the. Philippines. He is the author of many books on Asian affairs, among them U Nu of Burma (Stanford: Stanford University Press, 1963), Southeast Asia Today and Tomorrow (New York: Praeger, 1964), and most recently The Changing Face of Southeast Asia (Lexington: University of Kentucky Press, 1966), with coauthor Amry Vandenbosch.
