Alvin J. Cottrell was a member of the political science department at the University of Pennsylvania prior to joining the Center for Strategic Studies at Georgetown University. During a recent leave of absence, he served as professor of foreign affairs at the National War College. Dr. Cottrell has coauthored several books: American-Asian Tensions (New York: Praeger, 1956), Protracted Conflict (New York: Harper, 1959) and, most recently, The Politics of the Atlantic Alliance (London and New York: Pall Mall and Praeger, 1964).
