John J. Johnson has been chairman of the Committee on Latin American Studies at Stanford University since 1966. He served for a year in the State Department and has written and edited a number of volumes on Latin America. These include Continuity and Change in Latin America (Stanford: Stanford University Press, 1964) and Military and Society in Latin America (Stanford: Stanford University Press, 1964).
