Felix E. Hirsch is a native of Berlin, where he was a political editor of the Berliner Tageblatt. He immigrated to the United States in 1935, and has served as professor of history and librarian at Bard College and, since 1955, at Trenton State College. Twice Professor Hirsch returned to Germany as a visiting professor of history, in 1962 at the Technical University in Karlsruhe and in 1965 at the University of Heidelberg, his alma mater. Among his many writings is a book on Gustav Stresemann, Patriot and European (Gottigen: 1964).
