Nadav Safran specializes in Middle Eastern affairs at Harvard. He was born and lived for many years in Cairo; in 1946 he moved to Palestine and served in the Israeli army during the 1948 war. He received his college education in the United States and has been on the Harvard faculty since 1957. Mr. Safran is the author of Egypt in Search of Political Community (Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1961), The U.S. and Israel (Cambridge: Harvard University Press, 1963), Israel, a Profile (New York: World Affairs Council, 1965) and the forthcoming The Politics of Force in the Middle East.
