S. M. Chiu, a research associate at Princeton University in 1960–1961, has taught at the University of Utah, the University of Delaware, and the University of Southern California. The author of articles for professional journals and monographs, he is editor of Topics on Communist China (Salt Lake City: University of Utah Institute of International Studies, 1962).
