Henry Fowles Pringle, winner of the Pulitzer Prize for a biography of Theodore Roosevelt in 1931, is a former newspaper man. He worked for The New York Sun, The New York Globe and The New York World. He has contributed to many outstanding magazines and was associate editor of The Outlook in 1929. He is the author of many books. His most recent, The Life and Times of William Howard Taft, was published in 1939. Current History asked Mr. Pringle to write this article because he is an outstanding author whose opinion on current affairs deserves consideration. The editors wish to state, however, that Mr. Pringle’s conclusions are entirely his own.
