Cecil Scott Forester is best known as the author of books about the sea. His A Ship of the Line won the James Tait Memorial Prize for literature in 1938. More recent best-sellers from his pen are To the Indies, and Captain Hornblower, RN, the latter of which is now being filmed in Hollywood under the author’s supervision. Mr. Forester is also responsible for the hit play “Payment Deferred,” presented on the screen with Charles Laughton in the leading role, and for a number of biographies and travel books. He recently made an extensive lecture tour on the West Coast.
