Karl Loewenstein, born in Munich, came to the U. S. in 1933. Since his retirement front Amherst he has been a Fulbright Professor at the University of Kyoto, Japan, the Free University, Berlin, and Yale University. He is the author of numerousbooks. The most recent are: On British Parliatnenlarianism, currently being published in English by the Oxford University Press, and Max Weber’s Political Ideas in the Perspective of Our Time, originally written in German, which will be released by the University of Massachusetts Press in 1966.
