Edgar S. Furniss is presently the director of the social science program at the Mershon Center for Education in National Security at Ohio State University. He has lectured widely and has been a visiting professor a Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania and Johns Hopkins. Among his books are De Gaulle and the French Army (New York: Twentieth Century Fund, 1964), France, Troubled Ally (New York: Praeger, 1960) and American Military Policy (New York: Holt, Rinehart & Winston, 1957).
