Harry R. Rudin is Colgate Professor of History at Yale. In 1961, he traveled down Africa’s west coast from Morocco to Capetown, and north again from the Cape to Cairo. In the summer of 1964, Mr. Rudin gathered material for a history of the Congo in Brussels. His works include Germany in the Cameroons, 1884–1914 (New Haven: Yale University Press, 1938), and Armistice-1918 (New Haven: Yale University Press, 1944).
