Richard F. Staar, author of Poland 1944– 1962: The Sovietization of a Captive People (Baton Rouge,La.: Louisiana State University Press, 1962), occupied the Chester W. Nimitz Chair o f Social and Political Philosophy of the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island, during the 1963–1964 academic year, on a leave-of-absence from Emory University. He is now at work on a new book to be entided Eastern Europe in Transition
