Kadar’s Hungary

Ernst C. Helmreich, chairman of the department of history at Bowdoin, has taught at Purdue University, Radcliffe College and the Fletcher School o f Law and Diplomacy. Among his many published writings are Twentieth Century Europe: A History (with C. E. Black) (New York: Knopf, 1959) ; A Free Church in a Free State? The Catholic Church, Italy, Germany, France 1864–1914 (Boston: D. C. Heath, 1964) and, as editor, Hungary (New York: Praeger, 1957).
