Leo Pfeffer is a constitutional lawyer and an authority on religious liberty and the relationship of church and state in the United States. He has appeared as counsel in many important cases involving religious freedom and is a consultant to the American Civil Liberties Union and similar organizations. Among his books are Creeds in Competition (1958), The Liberties of an American (1956) and Church, State and Freedom. He is at present writing a history of the United States Supreme Court.
