I. L. Kandel has been a visiting professor in a number of American universities and is Emeritus Professor of American Studies at the University of Manchester (England). For 20 years, 1924-1944, he edited the Educational Yearbooks of the International Institute of Teachers College, Columbia University; from 1946 to 1953 he held the editorship of School and Society. His important works include History of Secondary Education, Comparative Education, The New Era in Education, American Education in the Twentieth Century and William Chandler Bagley: Stalwart Educator.
