Brazil: New President, Old Problems

John J. Johnson is chairman of the Conference on Latin American History of the American Historical Association. He is an adviser to the Encyclopedia Britannica on Latin American history, geography and biography; and Consultant on Latin America for the RAND Corporation. He is the author of Political Change in Latin America, the Emergence of the Middle Sectors (Stanford, 1958), and is currently engaged in research on the political role of the military in Latin America.
