Felix E. Hirsch, a native of Berlin, studied history at the University of Heidelberg soon after World War I. Having received his Ph. D. there, he became political editor of leading German democratic newspapers, at last the “Berliner Tageblatt” from which he was ousted by Goebbels’ Press Law. In this country, he has held positions as Professor of History and Librarian first at Bard College and since 1955 at Trenton State College. He returned to Germany twice after World War II for extended lecture tours and in 1954-1955 taught history at the Institute of Technology in Karlsruhe. The Canadian Institute of International Affairs published his study on “Germany Ten Years after Defeat” (1955). He has contributed articles to Current History and many other periodicals, including New York Times Magazine, Journal of Modern History, Review of Politics, Saturday Review, Vierteljahrshefte für Zeitgeschichte, and so on.
