Vice-President of the International Geographical Union for two terms, 1948, 1956, George Kuriyan has been President of the Indian Geographical Society, Madras, since 1954. In addition to serving as a member of the General Assembly’s International Social Sciences Council, UNESCO, Paris, 1954-1958, he also was Visiting Professor of Geography, University of Pennsylvania, 1952-1953, and Visiting Lecturer in Geography, to the Universities of Oxford, London and Nottingham in 1954.
