Frederick L. Schuman is Acting Chairman of the Department of Political Science at Williams College, 1958-1959, where he has taught since 1936, along with teaching in summer sessions at Chicago, Berkeley, Cornell, Columbia, and Harvard Universities. He is author, among other works, of Soviet Politics at Home and Abroad (1946), The Commonwealth of Man (1952), Russia Since 1917 (1957), and International Politics, Sixth Edition (1958). He traveled and studied in the Soviet Union in 1928, 1933, and 1956.
