John O’M. Bockrisreceived the degree of D.Sc. from the University of London in 1952 for “authoritative contributions to the field of electrochemistry,” and in the same year, the Fellowship of the Royal Institute of Chemistry “for published work.” He was Richards Memorial Lecturer to the Electrochemical Society in 1951. In 1953 he was awarded the Medaille d’honneur of the University of Louvain, Belgium. He briefly visited the Soviet Union in 1956.
