Akira Doigraduated from the Osaka Foreign Language School where he majored in Chinese. He was associated with the research section of the defunct South Manchurian Railway Company in the study of Chinese economic and financial problems. He also did some work with the Toa Research Institute dealing with East Asian problems. Following the war, he became Director- General of the Japan ECAFE Association. The Showa Dojin Kai with which he is now connected is a study group devoted to current problems affecting Japan’s national policies.
