Theodore Hsi-en Chen has been on the faculty of the University of Southern California since 1938, where he is Professor and Head of the Department of Asiatic Studies. In his sabbatical year, 1946-1947, he served as the active President of Fukien Christian University in China. In 1954, he went to Taiwan as field representative for the United Board for Higher Education in Asia to help organize Tunghai University.
