John F. Melbyis a former Foreign Service Officer who has served in Moscow, China, Southeast Asia and Latin America. Subsequently he was a research associate in Southeast Asian Studies at Yale University. Currently he is a lecturer on Far Eastern Government and Politics at the University of Pennsylvania, in addition to his work with the National Council on Asian Affairs.
