Lewis Webster Jones, who has held his present position since 1951, came to Rutgers from the University of Arkansas where he had been president from 1947 to 1951. President of Bennington College, 1941-1947, Dr. Jones was formerly an economist for the Committee on Costs of Medical Care and for the Foreign Policy Association. A member of numerous national and presidential committees, he has most recently served as a consultant to the Special Committee of the U. S. Senate on Foreign Aid to the Countries of South Asia.
