Rodger Swearingen, Ph.D. Los Angeles, California, is coordinator of research at the School of International Relations, University of Southern California. During the war he served in the Far East as a Japanese language officer, and later with the occupation in Tokyo and with the Department of State in Washington. Formerly a fellow at the Russian Research Center at Harvard University, he is now director of a Ford Foundation-supported project on the Russian impact on Japan. He is coauthor of Red Flag in Japan (1952) and a contributor to professional journals on Soviet-Asian relations.
