East Europe in Crisis

Robert F. Byrnesserved in Military Intelligence during World War II and has taught French and Russian history at Swarthmore College, Rutgers University, and Indiana University. He was director of the Mid-European Study Center from 1954-1956. He is the author of Anti-Semitism in Modern France: The Prologue to the Dreyfus Affair (1950) and of numerous studies on French and Russian history. He is also the general editor of a seven-volume series, East-Central Europe under the Communists.
