William E. Leuchtenberghas taught at Smith College and Harvard University and, in the summer of 1956, at the Seminar for American Studies in Salzburg, Austria. His doctoral study, Flood Control Politics in New England, was published in 1951; he testified about the 1955 floods before the special legislative committee that held hearings in Springfield, Mass. He is working on Franklin D. Roosevelt and the New Deal for Harper’s New American Nation series.
