CYRUS GORDON has spent four years in the Near East as an archaeologist. He was a member for two years of the Institute for Advanced Study, Princeton, New Jersey. Among the many works he has published are eleven books, all on various aspects of Near Eastern culture. His most recent book is Ugaritic Manual for which the Academy for Liberal Judaism awarded him a Certificate of Tribute. Mr. Gordon is professor of Assyriology and Egyptology at Dropsie College.
