HARRY R. RUDIN is Colgate Professor of History and Chairman of the Department of History at Yale. In 1931-1932 he was Fellow of the Social Science Research Council, working in England, Germany, France and West Africa. His works include Germany in the Cameroons, 1884-1914: A Case Study in Modern Imperialism and Armistice—1918.
