CARL G. ANTHON has written articles and reviews on modem Germany for many periodicals, including Journal of Modern History and World Affairs Quarterly. He served as historian with the United States Military Government in Berlin and was cultural officer on the staff of the U.S. High Commissioner from 1950-1952. In this capacity he helped build up the Free University of West Berlin.
