THOMAS G. BERGIN, who is at present Barge Professor of Romance Languages and Chairman of the Department of Spanish and Italian at Yale University, served from 1943 to 1946 as Deputy Director, later Director, of Public Relations for the Allied Commission in Italy. His published works include text books in the field of Romance Languages and translations of The Divine Comedy and Machiavelli’s Prince.
