H. L. KEENLEYSIDE has spent twenty years in the Canadian Diplomatic Service after studying and teaching in his native Canada and in the United States. During the Second World War, he was head of the American Division o f the Canadian foreign service and one of the original members of the Canada-United States Permanent Joint Board on Defense and of the Joint Economic Committees of Canada and the United States. In 1947 he became Deputy Minister of Mines and Resources and in 1950 was appointed Director-General of the United Nations Technical Assistance Administration. He is the author of Canada and the United States, a revised and enlarged edition of which was recently published.
