ROBERT T. PATTERSON, who has been teaching at New York University part and full time since 1946, received his Ph.D. there in 1950. He has also studied at Dickinson College and Harvard, George Washington, and Vanderbilt Universities. He is a member of the Economists’ National Committee on Monetary Policy and the author of a number of articles in the fields of financial history, money and banking, and public finance. His book, Federal Debt-Management Policies, 1865-1879, was published in April.
