HARRY W. LAIDLER, a leader of the Socialist movement in America, is Executive Director of the League for Industrial Democracy, a director of the National Bureau of Economic Research, and the National Housing Conference. He was the Socialist candidate for governor of New York in 1936, and for senator from New York in 1938. His numerous publications include: A History of Socialist Thought, 1927, Our Changing Industrial Incentives, 1949, and A. Brief History of Socialism in the United States, 1952.
