MICHAEL T. FLORINSKY has recently published a definitive two-volume study, Russia: A History and an Interpretation (1953). A revised edition of his Toward an Understanding of the U.S.S.R. appeared in 1951. He is now in Europe, working on an appraisal of the prospects for European Union.
