LLOYD V. BERKNER, noted scientific administrator, has included among his more recent activities a period of wartime service with the Navy as head of the radar section of the Bureau of Aeronautics, executive secretary from 1946-1947 of the Defense Department research and development board, and special assistant to the Secretary of State in 1949 to organize and direct the first Military Assistance Program of the North Atlantic Pact. At present he is a member of the National Academy of Sciences, and president of Associated Universities, Inc.
