FRANCES HUNTER FERRELL received her M.A. from Northwestern University. A teacher of history at Marshall High School in Chicago, she became a member of the research staff of the Division of Curriculum Development of the Board of Education of Chicago in 1950, where she writes and edits instructional materials to be used in Chicago’s public schools.
