LOUIS B. SCHMIDT has been Professor of History at Iowa State College since 1945. He is a frequent contributor to historical magazines and periodicals, on agriculture and other subjects. He is now at work on a paper for the next annual meeting of the American Historical Society, The Role and Techniques of Agrarian Pressure Groups.
