JOHN S. GALBRAITHreceived his Ph.D. from the University of Iowa. He has published a book on The Establishment of Canadian Diplomatic Status at Washington, and is now writing on The Hudson’s Bay Company as an Imperial Power. Mr.Galbraith is Professor of British Empire History at the University of California at Los Angeles, with which he has been associated since 1948.
