The Ineffective Years

RICHARD W. VAN ALSTYNEis author of American Crisis Diplomacy (1952) and American Diplomacy in Action. Before teaching at the University of Southern California, he was Professor and Head of the Department of Social Studies at Chieo (California) State College. Mr. Van Alstyne has also been a visiting professor at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, the University of Washington and the University of Michigan.
