HARRY R. RUDIN is Colgate Professor of History and Chairman of the Department of History at Yale, where he has taught since 1927. In 1931-32 he was Fellow of the Social Science Research Council, working in England, Germany, France and West Africa. He has also taught at summer sessions at the Institute on Contemporary Africa at Northwestern University, His works include Germans in the Cameroons, 1884-1914: A Case Study in Modern Imperialism and Armistice—1918.
