CHAO KUO-CHÜN is a member of the research staff at the Center for International Studies, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is also bibliographical consultant at the Regional Studies Program of Harvard University. Mr. Chao graduated from the University of Shanghai, maxima cum laude, in 1939; served as Assistant to the Chinese Military A ttache in India between 1943 and 1946. He received his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1949. Since 1949, Mr. Chao has been engaged in research work on modern and contemporary Chinese history at Harvard and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. His articles have been published by learned journals; he has also compiled source materials and selected works for the Russian Research Center and for the Committee on International and Regional Studies at Harvard University.
