Mr. Du Bois is one of the best-known American writers of negro descent. He was educated at Fisk University, Tennessee: Harvard University and the University of Berlin. He held the post of Professor of Economics and History at Atlanta University from 1896 to 1910; since then he has been publicity director of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People and editor of The Crisis.
