Professor Sarolea in the last thirty-two years has visiteil many limes different, parts of Algeria, Tunis and Morocco and has had exceptional opportunities to study their development at first hand. In 1920 he accompanied King Albert of Belgium on a State visit to West Africa, acting as the King’s political adviser during the trip. He made especial study of the black armies of Northern Africa, whose 400,000 disciplined units contributed so materially to allied success in the World War
