Emile Nakhleh is a former senior intelligence officer with the US Central Intelligence Agency, where he served as director of the Political Islam Strategic Analysis program and chief of regional analysis for the Near East and South Asia. He is the author of A Necessary Engagement: Reinventing America's Relations with the Muslim World (Princeton University Press, 2008).
